Contact with products containing gluten can create a toxic reaction that damages the small intestine and does not allow proper food absorption. Patients afflicted with Celiac Disease may also present with oral manifestations of the disease including enamel defects, apthous ulcers, glossitis, dry mouth and even Squamous Carcinomas of the pharynx and mouth.
